NEWARK, N.J. – A man accused of killing four people in two states in revenge for U.S. policy in the Middle East will go on trial in New Jersey on a terrorism charge.
Jury selection is underway Wednesday in the trial of 33-year-old Ali Muhammad Brown of Seattle.
He's charged with fatally shooting 19-year-old college student Brendan Tevlin at a traffic light in 2014.
He also is awaiting trial in three killings in Washington state from earlier the same year.
Authorities have said all the shootings were unprovoked.
Prosecutors say Brown is the first person in New Jersey to be charged with terrorism in a homicide case. He has pleaded not guilty.
Brown already is serving time in New Jersey on charges including robbery. His attorney didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.
